I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR FOREVER

The boy’s birthday is in a week. He’s just learned to ride his bike after a decade or 12 years of trying to teach him (but who’s counting?) and he’s outgrown his bike at his dad’s house and doesn’t like hand brakes. So I just got him a cruiser for my house so he can ride along with me when I run. I just want to say that I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY SINCE BEFORE HE WAS BORN. I am so excited I can’t stand it. We are totally going to be the cute kid biking along with mom while running and look like everyone else for once. (Unless a dog barks, a bird chirps, or a toddler talks, that is.)

Aidan grew up being pushed in a stroller by me till his legs were hitting the ground.  Later, when I made him run with me, he would sit in the middle of the trail and cry at about a half mile in (okay, a quarter mile) or get behind me and put his arms around my waist to make me stop. (You think he likes running?) Now that he’s learned to ride a bike, it is on.

And isn’t it awesome he has a better bike at mom’s house than at dad’s? Now his dad has to buy him a better one. I took some pics of him on it but he’s going so fast that it’s too blurry to see his face, but trust me, he’s grinning from ear to ear.

No matter what they say, yes, divorce is a contest and yes, I’m winning! 😉
